Measure AA: No
I support investing in safe, modern schools, including Liberty, Heritage, and Paloma Valley. However, Measure AA would authorize up to $187 million in new general obligation bond debt and continue the existing bond-tax rate while those bonds are outstanding.
The district says the measure would maintain, rather than increase, the current rate of $20 per $100,000 of assessed value. Its public materials describe broad priorities such as career technical education, classrooms, utilities, and campus security. The district has also identified potential projects at individual schools.
I have not seen a guaranteed campus-by-campus allocation showing how much of the $187 million would be invested at Liberty, Heritage, and Paloma Valley, or when those projects would be completed. A project list can authorize improvements while still leaving decisions about funding amounts, timing, and sequencing to the district. Menifee property owners deserve more certainty before approving another long-term financial obligation.
For those reasons, I will vote No on Measure AA.
